kamurocho nitpick

during the events of the first yakuza game, the brothel shangri-la is destroyed by goro majima with a dump truck. this takes place in 2005. now, given how often kamurocho changes, you might expect that at some point this area of the world would have been replaced with something new. there's precedent for this, even. kamurocho hills is obviously the biggest example, it being built over the course of several games (first going into construction with 2 and finally appearing in either dead souls or 5, depending on how pedantic you want to be). there's also the whole area around millennium tower, which i think has changed in small and big ways in pretty much every game, most notably between 5 and 6.

but i can do one even better. as anyone who has played yakuza 0 will know, the area where the millennium tower was ultimately built was very different looking in 1988. in fact, it even looked different in 1995, since the tower still had not been built by that time. so sometime in the next decade the tower went up, forever changing the tokyo skyline.

this is why i'm baffled to find out that not only does shangri-la still exist in yakuza 6 (you go there for a major story scene), but it even exists as recently as 2021! it's still there in lost judgment! how has some real estate psycho not bought the rights to that land and put something else there instead!?! i just don't understand how this place has been rotting for 16 fucking years. this is especially bizarre given the fact that the champion district is under some form of construction during yakuza 6! it's right there next to it!! whyyyyyyyyy

sorry, just had to ramble about this, i was going insane
